Share Skills, Feel Good, Strengthen Community.
The York Time Bank is a mutual aid platform for the sharing of skills, services, and talent on a community-wide scale, measured by time.
MISSION: The York Time Bank is a mutual aid platform that supports the exchange of skills, services, and talent among community members.
VISION: York as a resilient, regenerative community where everyone's time, talents, and service are valued, and everyone's needs are met.
The York Time Bank has three primary goals:
-
Strengthen the resilience and well-being of our community.
-
Serve people and give everyone a means to share their skills with their community.
-
Nurture relationships and meet real needs of our community members.
Each of us has gifts and talents to share, and the whole community is strengthened when we help one another.
Time Credits and Time Credit Exchanges
Time credits are a way that anyone can share their time, energy, skills, and talents to help others, and earn time credits in exchange. One hour of service provided to another person or to a community group that's a member of the Time Bank earns one "Time Credit."
A Time Credit Exchange
A Time Credit Exchange is formed whenever Time Credits are earned and spent.
For every hour that you help meet the needs of another time bank member, you earn a time credit for the exchange. This time credit can then be redeemed for services from others, and the never-ending cycle of sharing continues.
“Everybody can be great… because anybody can serve. You don’t have to have a college degree to serve. You don’t have to make your subject and verb agree to serve. You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love.” ―Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
